Walking Tours

We are pleased to offer the following walking tours across St Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly. All tours will start and finish at the quay on St Marys (unless otherwise arranged) and will be led by one of our friendly and experienced guides – all of whom are resident on the islands. Walks are limited to a maximum of 25 guests per guide.

Delightful St Marys

​

1.5 hour walk around the Garrison on St Marys to take in the Elizabethan defences and Star Castle Hotel as well as stunning views across to the outer islands and the world famous Bishop Rock Lighthouse. Your local guide will entertain and inform you with local wildlife, history and observations as well as insights on island life.

Difficulty: Medium (some trip hazards on coastal paths and a steep hill to start)

This walk can be extended to 2hrs to include light refreshments at The Star Castle Hotel.

St Marys Coastal Walk

​

2 hour walk through the main town and up onto Peninnis headland from where three of Scilly’s life-saving lighthouses can be observed. Your local guide will engage and inform you on a wide range of topics including natural history, maritime defences and the ‘ins and outs’ of island life on this most enchanting of UK archipelagos.

 

Difficulty: Medium (some trip hazards on coastal paths and a steep hill halfway through)

St Marys History Walk

​

2.5 hour walk across St Mary’s taking in Elizabethan and Edwardian defences as well as more recent island maritime history. Your local guide will engage and inform you with island life insights as only a local can. Enjoy light refreshments at the Old Town Café overlooking the picturesque bay before heading back up the hill to ‘town’.

Difficulty: Medium (some trip hazards on coastal paths and a steep hill towards the end)
